The range of known neurodevelopmental, neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases is vast and varied. SCC-RI researchers are tackling several such diseases including neuropathy and autism. Our approach is to establish neural models that allow us to explore the roles of neural stem cells and genetic factors in neural diseases.

Related Projects

To develop cell-based tools for use in drug screening of patient-specific stem cells.

The ability to screen for drugs that can target the root causes of neural disorders, including pain and dysfunction in autism spectrum disorder.

To develop the first Canadian high-throughput drug screening platform using autism spectrum disorder patient-derived neurons to ultimately move drugs to clinical trial testing.
